I lived in a converted warehouse in east Oakland with 15'+ ceilings, hard wood floors and huge transom windows that opened with a long chain and had to be propped open with a 2 x 4 block of wood. Rustic and luxurious in size, I had a view of the 880 freeway and the sound of the Bay Area Rapid Transit system whirring and wheezing along its tracks all day.
