Site specific colors from Blonduos, Iceland, 2021. In June, the lupin were large and lush along the riverbank and they began to bloom until mid July. Lupin are not native to Iceland, they were planted by the U.S. military during and after World War II to prevent erosion. They are now considered invasive and non native, a plentiful natural dye.
The ochre was foraged from the hill above the residency, a soft, opaque, color rich earth.
